SAT and ACT Math Prep Built on Real Math Skills
Most SAT and ACT math questions are not trick questions. They test the Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 skills students learned in class, under time pressure. When a student's score stalls, the cause is usually a handful of shaky topics, not a lack of test tricks.
That is why our SAT and ACT prep is all about the math. We find the exact topics that are costing your child points, rebuild them step by step, and then layer on test strategy: pacing, when to use the calculator, and how to handle the question types that show up again and again.

The short version: students who like to work carefully and lean on a graphing calculator often do better on the SAT. Students who work quickly and are comfortable with a wider range of topics, like logarithms and more trigonometry, often prefer the ACT. A timed practice test of each settles it.
What's on the SAT and ACT Math Sections
Digital SAT Math
44 questions across two adaptive modules. About three-quarters are multiple choice, and the rest ask students to enter their own answer.
- Algebra: linear equations, inequalities, and systems
- Advanced Math: quadratics, exponential functions, polynomials, and nonlinear equations
- Problem-Solving and Data Analysis: ratios, percentages, probability, and reading data
- Geometry and Trigonometry: area, volume, circles, triangles, and right-triangle trig
ACT Math
45 multiple-choice questions in 50 minutes, with four answer choices each. It covers everything from Pre-Algebra through early Pre-Calculus.
- Algebra and Functions: equations, graphs, and function behavior
- Geometry: shapes, coordinate geometry, and trigonometry
- Number and Quantity: fractions, exponents, and complex numbers
- Statistics and Probability: data, averages, and chance
- Modeling: turning real-world situations into math
Because both tests lean so heavily on algebra, SAT and ACT prep often doubles as a refresher for students currently taking Algebra 2 or Pre-Calculus.

SAT and ACT Scores for Florida Bright Futures
For many Miami families, the SAT or ACT is about more than admissions. Florida's Bright Futures Scholarship sets minimum test scores, and a few extra points can be worth thousands of dollars in college tuition.

Tests must be taken on or before August 31 of the student's graduation year. The bar is rising: students graduating in 2027-28 need a 1350 SAT for the Academic Scholars award, 20 points higher than the year before.
Both awards also require a weighted GPA (3.50 for FAS, 3.00 for FMS) and volunteer service or paid work hours. The Classic Learning Test (CLT) is accepted as well.
